Today marks SIX YEARS of Blondes & Bagels. I don’t think I’ve ever committed to any one thing for so long (except my husband). I started B&B with not just low expectations - I had NO expectations. I didn’t think anyone could or would read my articles. I definitely had no idea blogging could be any kind of a career. I just wrote because I loved to write. I still love to write.

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how few of us ever say how proud we are of ourselves. I’m not sure if it’s a fear of coming across as self important or deluded. But when I pull the data and look at the last six years of this whole thing I’ve created - I’m not sure how to be anything less than proud of myself. So far in 2021, my blog traffic is +136% to last year. I was printed in the New York Times because a writer found one of my blog posts, reached out, and sparked a conversation. Over the last three years, I’ve consistently brought in a five figure income on blogging alone - not counting my day job. And even when I was making nothing doing this, I loved it.

My blog put me in a position to experience something I never really thought I’d ever find: a true life partner who gives unwavering, unconditional support in every venture I do. Even when it isn’t his dream or when he doesn’t “get” it. @giants92388 I didn’t build this alone. I did it with you reminding me not a single piece of it was stupid. Nothing I ever want to do or try is ever stupid to you. Thanks for being so much more than an “Instagram husband.” Thanks for being the love of my life and my partner 110% of the time. Thanks for never letting me get in the way of me.

So all of this to say I’m absolutely proud of what I’ve built. And I’m so incredibly humbled by and thankful to anyone who has ever consumed any piece of content I’ve made. And I genuinely mean it. I don’t take it for granted - how precious time is and how generous it is when you spend it on my site or consuming any of my content. The value of your time and support isn’t lost on me. Not even for a second.

If I could do anything for the rest of my life - it would be to write. Here’s to six years of B&B. And hopefully so many years more.

All the books I read last week. ✨ Yesterday was summer solstice. Litha. Midsummer. I felt like I really embraced it. I spent the longer, lighter evenings sitting outside and reading. A heat wave hit. And for the first time in a long time I felt like I really knew ME.

#AD All backpacked up and ready to go! Today’s blog post BACKPACK GUIDE is in partnership with @verabradley...which to be honest is yet another WILD childhood dream come true. I’ve been toting Vera Bradley bags around for decades. My Nana was always ride or die for VB and every single trip out to the Midwest involved a shopping trip to a Vera store.
