A Night of Self Care With Aveo Vision

I'll be honest that going to events isn't usually my favorite part of blogging. I'm a content creator at heart - I love to take photos and I love to write. The events and networking side of things? Not usually so much. Mostly because I feel like events can get big and loud - leaving me essentially stranded in a corner.

But I hung out at the Aveo Vision pop up at Parachute Home last week and had the best, most refreshing time. I wanted to share a little bit about the event and a lot about Aveo Vision.

Aveo Vision held their pop up event inside Parachute Home in the Hayes Valley area of San Francisco. My home turf is the Haight-Ashbury neighborhood which isn't too far, so this was borderline local for me. ALSO, if you're ever visiting SF, make Hayes Valley one of your stops. It's a great little area in general with loads of cute shops and restaurants (Souvla being one of my faves).

The theme of the evening was self care - really enforcing that it's important to make time to take care of yourself (emotional health, mental health, and YES eye health). Wink wink.

I need to pause for the cause for a second to talk about the FOOD.

Honestly the way to get me to feel comfortable at an event is pump me full of cheese and Spindrift. LOLZ. Seriously this was my ideal menu. It was almost like the perfect "girls night" menu and kept the event feeling relaxing and intimate.

Let's talk about why I loved this event so much more than any other SF based event I've attended. The focus was on self care - both mental and physical - and this topic hits me right in the feels.

The team had set up three amazing stations, each allowing you a moment to sit down and breathe and do something for yourself.

The first station was an essential oils station - you could create your own custom blend! I ended up with geranium, orange flower, and vanilla spice (which honestly has an energetic day time scent, but somehow is sultry with that hint of vanilla).

There was also an express manicure station which was SO LOVELY. I know professional manicures are a regular occurrence for a lot of women, but growing up a trip to the nail salon was always labeled as a treat. Mama and I would go together for special occasions only pretty much, and now it's one of our fave activities to do to spend time together when I come back home.

But let's talk about the most important station - the vision test.

It's taken me a lot of years to realize that self care is a lot more than bath bombs and Netflix (...although those are absolutely acceptable forms of self care). Self care is also about actually investing in your health. I used to hate that all my corporate jobs made me get physicals every year - now I appreciate it. I used to hate the gym, workout classes, etc. And honestly, I still sort of do - but I recognize that my health is insanely important and taking care of my body is a huge form of self love.

Aveo Vision set up a vision test station in the back corner of the room and was giving demonstrations of their online vision test. IT WAS SO COOL. You guys, literally via their website and your phone, you can get a fresh prescription without leaving the house.

Honestly - this nifty bit of technology isn't really a surprise coming from Aveo. Aveo Vision is a disrupter and a game changer in the otherwise stale contact lens industry. Traditional contact lenses are not just pricey (if you're a contact lens wearer YOU FEEL ME), but the lead time can be obnoxiously long. Aveo not only sells their lenses, but manufactures them, meaning they spend more on the quality of their lenses and less on third party markups. They're online and subscription based, which means I can get contacts juuuust like I can get my Nespresso pods lol VIA SUBSCRIPTION. I would like everything and I would like it delivered thank you very much.

ALSO - the founder, Cecile, attended and gave an awesome rundown of the backstory of the company. It's always really lovely to find female owned and operated businesses to support. Cecile saw something that was broken and created a solution. Consider me a fangirl.

My business goal for 2019 had very little to do with growing my reach or making more money - it had everything to do with taking better care of myself, creating better content, and making more connections. I don't want to meet people just to meet them or push products just to push them. I want to align myself with good people and good companies that are really doing their best to improve people's lives.

I think that's exactly why I had such a good time at this event - it was nothing but good vibes from a company that actually wants to help people be healthier at a cost they can afford. If you're a contact lens wearer, definitely check out Aveo Vision - you get your first 30 pairs of lenses free.

A massive massive thank you to Aveo Vision for having me at this event and sponsoring this post! And a thank you to all my #BagelBabes for supporting the brands that support me!
