Everlane CAPSULE WARDROBE Fall Favorites

It's officially every basic bitch's favorite season...

It's FALL, YA'LL!

Honestly - I'm into the seasonal spirit. I love Fall for a whole host of reasons (crisp weather, the holidays around the corner, pumpkin patches, etc), but one of my favorite things about Fall is the style. I've always felt more comfortable in cozy sweaters than I do in shorts.

I have a slightly different approach to seasonal dressing than the standard blogger. If you hang out around the blog or my Instagram, you know I'm BIG on capsule wardrobe dressing. I don't love waste and I hate trends. I know the fall trends - especially when bloggers advertise tops and dresses that are super inexpensive - are really tempting. Even I get caught up in the, "this sweater is only $15!!!"

But I think the real question to ask before buying anything for Fall is will this item last me more than a few months? Will this [insert item name here] ever go out of style? Will this [insert item name here] physically last or will it fray, tear, or fall apart?

I'm all about buying pieces that will last, both from a style and a quality perspective.

Stop wasting your money - only buy shit that will last.

I'm going to focus this post on Everlane favorites specifically because the brand has nailed capsule wardrobe dressing big time. I like to pick up a new piece at a time and build my wardrobe slowly, knowing it's build and styled to last (vs dropping $100 at another store for five tops that I'll have to toss in a few months). This post is NOT sponsored - Everlane just makes building a classic, high quality wardrobe actually attainable and easy.

Tops

Basic tees

Basic tees are the backbone of any capsule wardrobe. The tee is insanely versatile - wear casually with jeans or dress up under a blazer. For Fall specifically I like to go with a longer sleeve length. I own this box-cut long sleeve (boxy, oversized fit), this waffle henley for a cozier vibe, as well as this long sleeve turtleneck (made from a tee material so it's not as heavy).

Button downs

Button downs are a wardrobe staple for me all year round - mostly because I love tossing one on when I have a big meeting at work to amp me up. I like to dress for the occasion.

For Fall, I recommend having a classic oxford and a classic white button down to mix and match with denim.

Sweaters

Sweaters are seriously my favorite clothing category ever. I love the look of an oversized, cozy sweater - they just make you look expensive and chic. Everlane makes my absolute favorite sweaters of all time. My two fave sweater styles specifically are the Soft Cotton Square Crew (I have this style in white, grey, and black - it's a very oversized fit so size down!) and the Oversized Alpaca Crew (I have this in heather grey, heather charcoal, and heather black - again an oversized fit).

Bottoms

I really feel like there's no need to overcomplicate bottoms during this time of year - find two pairs of well fitting, dark wash denim jeans and you're fine. Denim is so insanely versatile, especially in a dark wash. I love the Stretch Skinny and have it in an array of washes.

Outerwear

This section of the post is the only section where I do not own all the items I'm recommending. I follow my own advice (!) and add a piece at a time to my wardrobe. I just haven't gotten around to outerwear yet, especially because they're such big price point pieces.

I do own this black denim jacket and love it for transitional weather. This jacket is oversized enough you can actually fit a chunky sweater under it to keep warm! I'm also personally eyeing this oversized blazer and cocoon coat to round out my Fall capsule wardrobe.

Accessories

I really believe you only need three shoes for Fall - a good pair of boots, a versatile pair of sneakers, and a classic pair of heels. I've been obsessed with this boot for the last few weeks - the white makes them feel rock and roll without feeling cheesy trendy (they come in other colors, too)! I'm also a big fan of these sneakers (comfortable, durable, and made with recycled materials) as well as these easy heels (I got engaged in these shoes!).

For bags - a classic black tote all the way. I'm a big fan of the Cuyana Structured Tote, but Everlane makes a really similar style as well.
