I have incredibly dry skin. I like to think of myself as a total skincare test dummy – I try loads of products and treatments – and I feel insanely confident about my aresenal of skincare products for dry skin.

Milk cleanser

Milk cleansers are a dry skin’s dream. Your standard cleansers can often over-clean, stripping skin of its natural oils. When dry skin is your primary concern, natural oils are a good thing. Milk cleansers (not actually made of milk, btw) help to cleanse without that stripping, leaving skin hydrated and bouncy.

Hyaluronic acid

Don’t skip serum! With dry skin, moisturizer isn’t enough.

Hyaluronic acid, which naturally occurs in the body (in places like your skin and eyes), helps to retain water. Best used in between cleansing and moisturizing, adding a hyaluronic acid into your routine can help boost your skin’s natural hydration.

There are loads of hyaluronic acids on the market – from $12 bottles to $178 bottles. While I can’t speak to the potency of each one, what I can tell you is, if you have dry skin you need to buy one. Buy a hyaluronic you can afford to use regularly – and definitely consult with your aesthetician or dermatologist for their recommendations!

A thick, creamy moisturizer

If you have extremely dry skin, the labels “daytime” and “nighttime” moisturizer do not apply to you.

Moisturizers that are marketed for nighttime use make great daytime creams for dry skin babes because they’re formulated to be thicker and more hydrating – delivering benefits “overnight”.

Who cares if the bottle says it’s for nighttime use? If you have dry skin – you’ll love the extra hydration all day long.

Sleeping masks

I’m a huge fan of sleeping masks. Laneige makes amazing overnight sleeping masks, designed to literally be slept in, hydrating overnight.

I’ll typically go through my normal nighttime skincare routine (cleanser, serum, moisturizer) and layer my sleeping mask on right before I go to bed. These masks pack in extra hydration without clogging pores. Clean, bouncy skin sans zits is a dream come true.

Laneige also makes BOMB lip sleeping masks as well! Think of them like your lip balm on steroids. They work – they’re awesome.

A (BIG) water bottle

Last but not least, your skin and body need water as fuel. If you’re experiencing abnormally dry skin, make sure you’re getting enough water! I like to keep a large water bottle at my desk both at home and at the office so that I never forget to sip sip sip as the day goes on.
