I don’t exactly hide my Harry Potter fandom, but I do like to keep it a bit more elevated. I’m a proud Ravenclaw and I like to think it’s possible to achieve Ravenclaw aesthetic without it having to feel cheesy or like theme park cosplay.
No shade to cosplayers – it’s just not my vibe.
I’m a Potterhead, but I also like a really chic, minimal type of vibe for both my personal style and home. You won’t catch me with big Ravenclaw flags strewn across our walls and bright, royal blue outfits. Instead I keep the Ravenclaw aesthetic alive with more subtle, moody accents.
If you’re a fellow Ravenclaw looking to add a little more magical aesthetic into your life – this one’s for you.
Ravenclaw is a VIBE. I’m biased, obviously – but I love my house. Out of all the Hogwarts houses, Ravenclaw is known as the witty bunch. We love our logic and reason. We love our books. All things intellect and bookish are a Ravenclaw kind of vibe.
The Ravenclaw common room is located up in one of the many towers of Hogwarts. Stars and astronomy are staples for a Ravenclaw aesthetic.
We spend so much time on our devices now that personalizing your phone, ipad, or computer with wallpapers can really set the mood. I’ve added Ravenclaw aesthetic wallpapers to my iPhone, laptop, and even my iPad.
I personally have had a blast creating my own wallpapers because I can really control the vibe. I often peruse Pinterest or Tumblr and save down every aesthetic image or photo I find. I then typically take those images and create a Ravenclaw aesthetic collage on an app like PicsArt (just using their free version).
Another way to add Ravenclaw aesthetic to your tech is by finding a classic case any Ravenclaw would love. You can keep it subtle and bookish with leather cases for your phone or iPad, or go more full fandom and choose an obviously Ravenclaw case.
I love cozying up in a corner of my home with a good book – maybe one of the Harry Potter books? Wink wink.
Blankets create a warm, relaxing environment. Adding a Ravenclaw blanket to any couch, bed, or reading corner instantly adds that Ravenclaw vibe. Don’t rush off to a theme park to purchase! I recommend choosing more elevated, understated styles like this one from Vera Bradley or this one.
I’m all about that elevated Ravenclaw aesthetic.
I’ve got this item on my immediate to do list for our new home. I’m lusting over this specific wallpaper featuring the Black family tapestry. Sure, it’s not Ravenclaw specific, but it has such a cool Harry Potter reference in it that I think few people except true fans would catch on first glance. Fun wallpapers like this add a dark, romantic vibe to any room and also nod to the series we love so much.
The 20th anniversary editions of the Harry Potter series books have slowly been releasing as each book hits their milestone anniversary. These special house editions are super fun – and I absolutely love the Ravenclaw editions. Displaying these on your shelves instantly adds a touch of Ravenclaw aesthetic and house pride to your home.
Candles are an easy win when it comes to creating a moody Hogwarts and Ravenclaw ambiance. I’ve actually been a big fan of adding black iron candle sticks to areas of the home where I want that slightly edgier, moodier, witchier vibe. Extra points to Ravenclaw if you use black candlesticks.
I love to represent my house – but within reason. I truly just don’t love the look of being a walking billboard for a theme park or a studio. There are; however, amazing ways to nab that perfect Ravenclaw aesthetic in your wardrobe in more subtle ways, such as opting for a bag in house colors.
I love the Vera Bradley Harry Potter collection like no other. I wrote blog posts for both the first and second drop of the collection. The first drop had house specific styles with plenty of Ravenclaw items to choose from – some are still available today! When they sell out, though, they’re likely gone forever. Run, don’t walk.
I’m a huge advocate for capsule wardrobe style dressing. Fashion (particularly fast fashion) contributes to a whole host of problems such as global warming, unfair labor practices, pollution, and growing landfills. It’s incredibly important we shop as smart as we can afford and opt for classic, quality pieces.
I have zero regrets picking up my Ravenclaw crew neck, but on the daily I typically choose more subtle, unbranded pieces. From classic black, white, and great tops to jeans – I like to keep my wardrobe filled with items that don’t go out of style.
And I think that’s a VERY Ravenclaw approach. Ravenclaw aesthetic outfits don’t have to be slathered in blue and bronze.
Ravenclaws are practical and pragmatic. Ravenclaws are likely to rarely follow a trend – and a Ravenclaw aesthetic wardrobe is one made up of timeless pieces that will be around forever.
If you’re not a Ravenclaw – never fear. I’ve got Slytherin aesthetic, Hufflepuff aesthetic, and Gryffindor aesthetic posts on the horizon. We all deserve a little more magic in our lives.
