In all honesty – I’ve been feeling physically out of whack lately. If you guys follow me over on Instagram stories you know I’ve been battling everything from allergies to acid reflux.

Getting old is super attractive guys.

But real talk, I’m on a mission to live life a little cleaner and take my health up a notch! I’ve been amping up my exercise routines, trying to eat clean and am officially kicking sulfates to the curb.

Talk about sulfates has been around for a while, but most of us don’t even really understand what sulfates are.

So what are sulfates and why do we care about them? The short answer is that sulfates are “aggressive” detergents that are meant to give a powerful clean. While sulfates aren’t a bad thing, they do have the potential to be harsh, irritating, or drying.

So let’s have a quick little chit chat about why sulfate free matters.

1. Choosing sulfate free products is an easy way to live a “better for you” kind of lifestyle.

As I’ve been on my journey to a healthier lifestyle I’ve realized not all healthy choices are easy.

Like let’s be honest, downing entirely green smoothies is not easy.

I recently swapped out both my standard haircare and laundry detergent for awesome sulfate-free options! Incorporating sulfate free products into my household and daily beauty routine has been to date the easiest way I’ve made a “better for me” kind of lifestyle choice. And it rocks.

2. Sulfate-free is gentle for your hair.

AVEENO PURE RENEWAL® Shampoo and Conditioner have been my go-to sulfate free haircare routine essentials. Guys…

I am so obsessed with how soft my hair is now.

Right before New York Fashion Week I did a number on my hair. I went into a salon, asked for balayage, and came out with some serious bleach damage. Needless to say I’ll never go to that salon again, but my previously bouncy hair has felt dry and brittle ever since.

Until AVEENO PURE RENEWAL® Shampoo and Conditioner.

My hair feels like real hair again – not a dry damaged mess. AVEENO PURE RENEWAL® Shampoo and Conditioner contains naturally derived cleansers and a sulfate free formula to gently cleanse your hair and scalp. And that friends is the key – gently cleanse your hair and scalp.

Turns out all my sulfate filled hair products were stripping out the little natural moisture I had left on my scalp.

I picked up my AVEENO PURE RENEWAL® Shampoo and Conditioner from my local Walmart for – get this – less than $6 a bottle. The bottles are super easy to spot in the hair care aisle – they’re tall and sleek, clearly labeled with “sulfate free”!

3. Sulfate free means a deep clean for your clothes.

Once I found out the role of sulfates in my hair care products I was hooked and also swapped out my laundry detergent for a sulfate free option! I’ve been obsessing over the new sulfate free all® fresh clean ESSENTIALS® laundry detergent. all® sulfate free delivers a powerful clean without harshness.

I popped over to the laundry detergent aisle while in Walmart to grab a bottle. Look for it on the top shelf. I went for the “fresh scent” option, but it also comes in a fragrance free version!

Again, I’m on this whole hype of finding “better for me” lifestyle choices and all® sulfate free was a no brainer kind of choice. What’s cool is that cleaning your clothes – even really cleaning them – doesn’t have to be harsh. all® sulfate free has proven and effective ingredients that do give your clothes a deep clean (even lifting pesky stains), but all without the harshness!
Nailed it.

4. Going sulfate free is affordable.

Switching to organic foods? More expensive. Switching to all natural products? More expensive. Switching to aluminum free deodorant? Definitely more expensive.

Just to keep it real – I definitely spent fourteen dollars on one aluminum free deodorant last week. Talk about a punch straight to the wallet.

But switching to sulfate free haircare and laundry detergent? Um, actually affordable.

Like I said, I snagged all my sulfate free faves from Walmart – and got them at crazy amazing prices. You can save $1.00 off one (1) AVEENO® product by using this coupon and $.50 off one (1) all® product (while supplies last) with this coupon!

5. Your body is a temple.

Super cliché, I know, but the truth is that your body is a temple and taking care of it feels so good. It’s super important to put only the best things in and on your body – and going sulfate free is one of the easiest ways to do just that.

Treating yourself never felt (or looked) so good.
