VMA Red Carpet Fashion

Whether it’s Kanye interrupting Taylor’s speech or Madonna and Britney making out, the MTV Video Music Awards rarely disappoint. The VMA’s this year were equally as entertaining with Nicki Minaj & Taylor Swift performing “Bad Blood” live together, the premiere of hot new music videos by Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber, and Miley Cyrus, oh…and Miley Cyrus’ outfits throughout the show. I’ll spare you the Miley Cyrus fashion recap because not one of her outfits is Blondes & Bagels appropriate (we try and stick to PG-13 in these parts of town). I’ve got a VMA red carpet fashion recap (sans Cyrus) for you below!

What is a VMA red carpet fashion recap if we don’t start with the princess herself, Taylor Swift? Usually houndstooth evokes memories of 80’s, but Taylor Swift’s sequin houndstooth crop top and pants are just plain fun.

Selena Gomez amped up the sex appeal (as if she wasn’t sexy enough already) in this black zipped number. Love the dress. Do not understand the shoes.

Vanessa Hudgens went full fairy princess in this dusty pink floor length dress. Her jewelry was less than PG, however.

Karlie Kloss would look gorgeous even when wearing a sack. Which honestly is kind of what the shape of her VMA dress is: a sack. In all fairness it’s actually a pretty cute sack, but Karlie is leaving us lusting for a little more definition of her waist.

Kanye West, Kim Kardashian, and her baby bump walked the red carpet together looking perfectly in sync. Kim is nothing if not daring in her maternity fashion and her VMA dress (equipped with criss-cross cleavage detail) is no departure. Kanye on the other hand looks far more casual in sneakers and sweats. All in all Kimye looks fashionable as always, but we’d just like to point out that it’s totally unfair the ladies of the VMAs get stuck going full glam and the men can get away with sweatpants.

The rest of the Kardashian clan (minus Khloe and Kendall) walked the red carpet together. Kris and Kourtney nailed it, but Kylie’s dress is so short she gave us anxiety with every step. A little leg is sexy – this is just plain dangerous.

Gigi Hadid stood out in a bright yellow bodysuit and skirt. Gigi’s slick backed hair didn’t pair well with this fun ensemble and we would’ve loved to see her opt for a whispy, romantic chignon instead.

Demi Lovato not only slayed her performance of “Cool for the Summer,” but also slayed the red carpet in this plunging pink body con dress.

Only someone as fierce as Ciara can pull off an all fringe outfit. This bold ensemble perfectly fits Ciara’s personality – sexy & powerful!

Cara Delevingne kept it classy (and admittedly a little boring) in a black and silver printed mini dress. Cara looks beautiful as always, but she usually stuns on the red carpet. Unfortunately this dress was a bit of a yawn.

Chrissy Teigen gave us a whole lot of leg at the VMAs this year in this sexy black floor length gown. Kylie take note – this is how you show off your legs.

What was your favorite outfit?

Sad you missed the VMAs? It’s okay – I also live tweeted this year’s show for you.
