I’ll be honest, Thanksgiving really isn’t my favorite holiday. Maybe it’s because as a kid growing up the point of it isn’t so obvious. Halloween resulted in tons of candy. Christmas resulted in presents galore. Thanksgiving resulted in a bloated belly and the urge to take the longest nap of your life.
I’ve come to appreciate Thanksgiving more and more as I’ve gotten older. We spend so much time putting our heads down just getting through each day. How often do you stop to reflect? How often do you take a moment to be thankful for what you have?
I sure as hell don’t do it enough.
So this year I’m making a point to identify alllll the wonderful things I have to be thankful for. And I totally feel like you should do the same!
My family. These nuts I call my family are super weird and certifiably insane. They’re also crazy supportive of every dream I’ve ever had so I’ll forgive them for their insanity. Also their weirdness made me a total goober so I’m actually really appreciative of that. How can you get through life if you don’t know how to laugh? And I totally got that from my fam bam. Thanks Mom for being embarrassing and thanks Dad for the dry sense of humor.
My boyfriend (& the little things he does). KB checks off all the brilliant boyfriend boxes, but I won’t really gush about all that. What I really love is the little ways he shows he loves me – without saying a word. He’ll move my car for street cleaning because he knows I hate it. I’ll come home to find the bed made because he knows I love a clean room. He’ll leave the car with a full tank of gas for me so that I won’t have to stop. He thinks about all the little ways to make my life easier, and for that I’ll forever spend my life thinking of ways to do the same for him. Love ya, kid.
My blog! And all the crazy opportunities I’ve had this year because of it. I went to LA for a conference and met tons of other bloggers. I’ve worked with awesome brands like Goody and Bioré. I’ve taken you with me on adventures both near and far. I’ve also gotten to know some of you! And I really can’t believe how crazy lucky I am to have all this at my fingertips.
The holidays. I love the holidays and everything they stand for. Togetherness, family, love, hope. I’m also super thankful for the holidays this year especially. This is the first holiday season KB and I are living together – and I can’t wait to get a tree! I can’t wait to decorate and make our little apartment feel like a holiday home.
Popcorn. No, not the food. My little kitty. After only a few days of annoying KB, he took me to the SPCA and we adopted a kitten a few months back. It’s seriously been the best thing we’ve ever done. Popcorn has some annoying flaws – but she’s actually the perfect cat for us. She’s playful but also a total lover. She’s currently curled up next to me purring as I write this post. I’m super thankful for the unconditional love that comes from owning a pet.
Get ready for some super holiday themed posts headed to the blog soon. Because clearly I’m already in the spirit.
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
