Gift giving (and receiving!) is definitely my love language, but I'm all about conscious consumerism. It's definitely possible to consume, but with a more sustainable and ethical mindset.
I wanted to dish out a few sustainable gift ideas for the holidays - but honestly I'd save this post for later because you can totally refer back to gift these items to anyone and everyone all year long.
Let's break down my top sustainable gift ideas you'll probably want to buy for yourself, too.
Reusable cotton rounds are the perfect sustainable stocking stuffer. Ringing in at just under $10, these specific rounds are actually made of a bamboo fleece and can be used for makeup removal, toner - basically in any scenario you'd typically reach for a single use cotton round to handle.
I know a reusable water bottle isn't exactly the most original sustainable gift ideas; however, I'm getting specific and recommending a bkr. Bkr is a female founded brand that makes some of the chicest water bottles around. Bkrs are BPA-free glass water bottles with silicone sleeves that come in every shade under the sun (love to match my bkr to my outfit for the day). I'm also obsessed with the fact that the glass means no metallic taste.
Ya'll already know I'm obsessed with Cuyana (please refer to my endless Cuyana blog posts and videos). Cuyana is a sustainable fashion brand that focuses on timeless, classic, well made pieces. For a smaller gift, I'd recommend either the makeup cases OR the mini jewelry case. If you're looking to gift something a little larger and more elevated - I'd go with the Classic Structured Tote all the way. We actually gifted this tote to my mother-in-law last year and she loves it.
When in doubt - opt for an Everyone gift guide. Everlane is honestly filled with amazing sustainable gift options. Focused on transparency in their pricing and air tight factory standards, you can feel good about any Everlane gift you give. My personal fave items are the Cotton Square Crew (it's oversized - I recommend sizing down one size) and the Day Market Tote.
I am downright addicted to my Nespresso - upgrading to this machine (from a Keurig!) was hands down the best purchase I made for myself in 2019. Personally I don't love the taste of Keurig pods and I also hated the single use plastic. Nespresso brews a much better coffee, gives you the option to brew espresso, and also utilizes recyclable aluminum pods! My machine full price lands at around $250, but I found my exact machine and frother majorly on sale for ya'll!
