YOU GUYS. I am so crazy excited to be revealing our wedding venue to you...
Julia Morgan Ballroom in San Francisco!
JMB was actually the second venue we toured...and the last. Lolz. When you know, you know, am I right? But real talk - the space was just so stunning we knew it was exactly what we wanted. They had it all decorated for a wedding later that evening, so we got to see it all done up!
You can read a little about the history of the ballroom here, but Julia Morgan herself was one of America's most prolific architects. Not only were her offices in the building back in the early 1900's, but she was actually commissioned to re-design the interiors after the great 1906 earthquake and fire. The result is the opulent ballroom you see in these photos - the opulent and historic ballroom that we'll be married in this fall!
I am so, for lack of a finer word - fucking proud - to be getting married in a building and a room that holds so much history. And not just any history - San Francisco history. I always told KB I wanted to get married somewhere that "meant something." JMB is perfection.
I'll honestly let the photos do most of the talking here.
There are several rooms in JMB. Downstairs is a grand, marble entryway. You can get married in this location or in the ballroom itself. The reception is always in the ballroom.
There's also a "lobby" type area with a fireplace and a beautiful cocktail/bar area with another fireplace. I can't wait to decorate these spaces!!!
...I'm thinking all black everything...mostly. Lol.
The ballroom itself will have a dance floor, a big ol' fireplace (that I am TOTALLY requesting we have turned on), mood lighting - the works. I can't wait!!!
I am SO excited to marry my best friend in this badass venue!
