How to Have a Perfect October

I don’t care if it makes me “basic,” it’s hard not to love when Fall rolls around. It’s officially October and it may still be a toasty 70 degrees here in San Francisco thanks to our notorious Indian Summers, but we’re all ready to dive into Fall activities despite the heat wave. If you’re after a perfect October, make sure to check these things off your autumn activity list.

Visit a pumpkin patch – but do it like an adult.

We all did the obligatory family trip to the pumpkin patch as kids, but now it’s time to anniversary the tradition like an adult. Search for a local pumpkin patch that operates in the off season as a farm or dairy farm! What this means for you is not just picking out your pumpkin, but also awesome “adult activities” like cheese tastings and craft brews. Last year some friends and I took a trip up to Marin county to a dairy farm where we picked pumpkins, dug up potatoes, and tasted some local cheeses. Mmmm tasty.

Carve a pumpkin.

You aren’t doing October right if you don’t carve a pumpkin. Nothing beats playing Hocus Pocus in the background while sketching out the design of your jack-o-lantern. Gather friends for this event and turn it into a pumpkin carving party – you’ll have tons of fun and it’ll make the next task on the list that much tastier.

Bake pumpkin seeds.

It may sound intimidating, but baking your own pumpkin seeds is tasty and easy. Once you’ve weeded out the seeds from your pumpkin, just lightly drizzle the seeds in olive oil, salt & pepper to taste, and broil in the oven until golden brown. Homemade pumpkin seeds are an awesome party snack!

 Give back.

Aside from the stereotypical October activities, Thanksgiving is around the corner and this is a great time to start feeling grateful and give back! Find a local cause you care about and donate some of your time to giving back. We promise the warm and fuzzies you feel afterwards are worth your time.

Pick out your perfect costume.

You have 30 days to plot and plan – it’s time to get a jump on picking out your perfect costume for Halloween! Get creative this year – personaly we reccommend the following costumes:

– a reformed Justin Bieber (bleach blonde wig is a must)

– pregnant Kim Kardashian (latext dress & floor length coat are key)

– presidential candidate Donald Trump (this one speaks for itself)

Do you have any grand plans for your October?
