When KB and I first started to talk about moving in together I only thought of one thing: decorating for the holidays. I’m not even joking.
Sure I was excited to wake up next to him every morning. But what I really had in my head was our first holiday season. I’ve been thinking about our first Christmas together since June.
The tricky thing about living in San Francisco is that you don’t own – you rent. And decorating for the holidays when you rent is hard Basically every time I hang a picture I’m thinking about how much money out of my deposit I’ll get back. I knew if I wanted to decorate for the holidays I needed to find a damage-free way to do it.
You guys know I’m already a massive fan of Command™ Brand Strips. I actually used them for my entire gallery wall to spruce up our bedroom right after I moved in! When I found out that my friends at Command™ Brand had a whole line of products meant for helping renters like me decorate for the holidays – I was in.
I picked up my Command™ Brand products from Walmart. I’ve seen them in Walmarts in the holiday section! Super convenient. Mine had them in my normal hardware aisle – impossible to miss with that bright red packaging!
Our front door is inside, but I still wanted to keep it festive. My mom gave me this awesome faux wreath that’s perfect alternative to a real one – less maintenance! I used a Command™ Brand Small Wire Hook to hang this baby on the door. It was crazy easy.
All you have to do is peel off the “wall side” of the sticky included and press it to your surface. Then you peel off the other side and press the hook onto the sticky strip. I made sure to apply pressure for at least 30 seconds to make sure it stuck.
Literally it was that easy.
I wanted to give our room just a little taste of the holidays without going too overboard. I found this awesome “Merry And Bright” wall hanging for $3 and was totally ready to commit to that. This hanging is a bit deeper than the wreath, so I opted for the Command™ Brand Clear Medium Hook.
Seriously even a blonde (lol!) can use these babies.
Again, I stuck my little sticky on the wall where I wanted the hook, and then pressed the hook in place for 30 seconds. I let the hook sit for about an hour before I hung my picture to make sure it would stay securely in place.
I also love that if I change my mind about my decor placement, I can easily move things around damage-free.
Major win.
