I’ve been posting a lot of shots on my Instagram lately and have been drowning in love from you guys! I’ve gotten a lot of questions asking about my hair and how to get similar beachy style. Beach waves are my absolute favorite hair style – and are surprisingly easy to pull off! I’ve got an easy beach hair tutorial for you so that you can recreate my beach waves!
Don’t wash your hair every day.
Most hairstylists recommend you give you hair a break from the shampoo every other day or so, and this absolutely holds true for creating perfect beach waves. In a weird way: the dirtier the hair the better. Dirty hair holds a curl better and has more texture than freshly shampooed hair. If I know I’m going to be doing a beach wave hairstyle the next day, I’ll skip the shampoo the night before!
Use a heat protectant.
This is the cardinal rule of styling your hair: always use a heat protectant! Between blow drying and curling irons (up next!), styling can really damage your hair. I like to use Moroccanoil after I shower to both hydrate and protect my hair, but there are lots of options and brands out there so find what works best for you!
Opt for a curling wand.
To create my beach waves I use a curling wand rather than a traditional curling iron. Curling wands give more of a wave shape than a traditional ringlet curl shape from a curling iron. I take small sections of my hair and wrap them around the wand, leaving an inch or two out at the end (this is important – it prevents you from burning your finger tips and also adds a “piecey” texture by leaving the ends straight).
Steal my secret weapon!
Okay, this product is more of a cult favorite than a secret – but I swear by it! After I’ve used a curling wand to create my curls, I’ll wait for them to cool, gently brush them out, and then apply Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray liberally throughout my hair. I’ve used other “surf waxes” and salt sprays before, but nothing compares to Bumble and Bumble. I even bought a travel size to take on the go and spritz throughout the day if I need a pick me up! Trust me – this is my secret weapon and the key to getting easy beach hair!
Okay #BagelBabes now you’re armed and ready to conquer the world with beautiful beachy hair and eyeliner wings so sharp they could kill a man. I can’t wait to see your beautiful selfies with amazing beach hair!
Tag me on Instagram and show me your beautiful beach waves! What’s your favorite hair style?

I am obsessed with beach waves! I learned how to do mine from Twist Me Prettys blog! Your waves are perfect and I will definetly have to try that beach spray! The one I use is not your mothers beach spray and I LAV it! It’s awesome! And it smells good too so that’s always a plus! But it makes your hair super textured which I embrace the messy hair hahah!
Hi I’m Cari! I subscribed to your blog cause I’m blonde and I also love bagels so of course I thought we could be friends! ?
