I am a total beauty junkie and love testing new products and ingredients regularly. I was doing my weekly (who am I kidding – DAILY) Sephora browse when I spotted a new face mask featuring cica from one of my most trusted brands. I immediately became obsessed with this new (to me!) ingredient and went down the rabbit hole.
I’ve been thoroughly enjoying my new mask – so let’s break down what exactly IS this fancy new ingredient and why it’s worth adding into your skincare routine.
My first ever experience with cica actually wasn’t my new found mask – it was a few years back when I partnered with Dr. Jart on a campaign for a cica based product. I was definitely blown away by the redness reducing benefits of the Tiger Grass Camo drops, but honestly I used that product more as a pre-makeup redness reducer vs fully appreciating the skincare benefits of cica.
Cica is an herb with healing properties. This plant is often called “tiger grass” because tigers rub against the plant in the wild to help heal wounds.
Cica has a few primary benefits that make it very worth adding into your skincare routine.
Cica in moisturizers can help add an extra punch of hydration!
“Tiger grass” is well known for its regenerative properties, making it an amazing ingredient for all things anti-aging.
Cica actually helps to strengthen the skin’s barrier, making it less susceptible to pollutants in the air.
Redness reduction is my hands down favorite benefit of my cica products. I have incredibly flushed skin (thank you Irish heritage). Cica in skincare can actually help to tame inflammation, and many brands make amazing tiger grass infused color correcting products to cancel out redness before any makeup application.
Um, literally everyone. Seriously.
But real talk – if you’re someone that suffers from redness or has sensitive skin, tiger grass products are perfect for you.
As previously mentioned, I’m personally obsessed with the new Laneige mask. That being said – there are so many cica products on the market! I’ve dropped a handful of my top picks into the widget below.
